Do-Re-Mi Volunteer Hour Policy
Do-Re-Mi deeply appreciates the time, talent, and dedication of all our volunteers. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, volunteer service hours completed through Do-Re-Mi are generally eligible for recognition by schools and community service programs (Please confirm with your school or program).
Please read our volunteer hour policy below and use this form to submit your volunteer hour for approval.
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that volunteer hours are tracked in a fair, consistent, and transparent manner. Accurate tracking supports recognition of volunteer contributions, school service verification, and nonprofit accountability.
Eligible Volunteers
Volunteer hours may be logged by:
Performers
Event planners
Chapter leaders
Administrative volunteers
Marketing and outreach volunteers
Types of Volunteer Hours
Performance Hours
Volunteers may log the actual duration of live performances at senior communities or approved events. Time will be rounded to the nearest 0.5 hour.
Examples:
• 45‑minute concert → log 1 hour
• 70-minute concert → log 1 hour
Travel time is not counted unless specifically approved.
Preparation Hours
Preparation hours recognize time spent preparing specifically for DoReMi performances.
Volunteers may log:
• Rehearsing performance repertoire
• Group rehearsals
• Program preparation
• Event‑specific musical practice
Rules:
• Maximum 3 preparation hours per performance
• General music practice unrelated to the event cannot be logged
• Preparation must occur within 14 days of the event
Administration Hours
Administration hours recognize work that helps organize DoReMi programs.
Examples include:
• Contacting senior communities
• Scheduling performers
• Designing flyers or programs
• Writing newsletters
• Coordinating rehearsals
• Leading planning meetings
• Managing volunteer rosters
Rules:
• Maximum 4 administration hours per event per volunteer
• Must include a brief description of the task
• Hours require approval from a chapter leader or supervisor
Submission Process
All volunteers must submit hours using the official DoReMi Volunteer Hour Log Form.
Submissions must include:
Volunteer name
Date
Event name
Type of hours
Number of hours
Short description
Supervisor approval
Hours must be submitted within 30 days of the activity.
Verification and Review
Chapter leaders will review submissions monthly
DoReMi reserves the right to adjust or reject hours if documentation is unclear
Random audits may be conducted
Recognition
Volunteer hour certificates and recognition awards may be issued based on cumulative hours.
